學院2005年獲凝聚态物理碩士學位授予權，2007年開始招收培養碩士研究生，2010年在湖南省研究生培養過程質量評估中獲得優秀，2010獲得物理學一級碩士學位授予權，自2012年起，培養理論物理、凝聚态物理、光學和無線電物理碩士研究生，物理學為省級重點專業和77779193永利重點學科。
The college received a master's degree of condensed matter physics in 2005, began to recruit and train postgraduate students since 2007, obtained excellent evaluation in 2010 during the postgraduate training process of Hunan province, get the first level discipline master of physics in 2010, and train theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, optics and radio physics graduate students since 2012, furthermore, physics is the key specialty of Hunan province and key discipline of Jishou university.
